He starts falling in love with his daughter's teacher Miss Mohanakumari Bhattacharya who teaches him Sinhala. He becomes the founder of a school named Siva Vidyalaya, where he is known as Mr. Rangaswami Iyengar (he is also the president of an association called Bharat Natya Mandram). He hopes to bring his daughter and teacher together, but doesn't succeed initially. He has to deal with many problems in his life when he allows Vijayalakshmi Mani Iyer to take his daughter to her house when she is ill, which proves fatal for her. However, after time passes by he manages to reconcile with Lakshmi who is now married to Sivasubramanian who returns home. He returns to his house where he is followed by his daughter and teacher, who come there to see him. This book has been referred to in many other books from the same author, one of which is Ramnad Krishnan. Ramnad Krishnan was a movie made on the lives of Ramanujan and Krishnan. In fact, Ramanujan's wife is called Lakshmi Menon which sounds like Lakshmi in this book.
